City of Ft. Wayne Trashing Homeless Belongings

The city of Ft. Wayne, Indiana is showing itself to not be friendly to it’s local homeless population.  WANE TV is reporting that Ft. Wayne is planning on doing a “homeless sweep” on Tuesday, May 3rd, at 8am.  Basically, they are telling the homeless under the Ewing St. bridge that they must move along or have the very little belongings they own thrown away.

I made a rather lengthy post on Facebook about my thoughts in regards to all of this.  Those thoughts are as follows:

Pastor Greg Locke on Target’s Transgender Restroom Controversy

Pastor Locke makes some great points regarding the Target ‘transgender’ controversy. What are your thoughts on how he says Christians should be dealing with issues that cross not only what Christians believe and stand for, but also the very basic morality/common sense of it all? Comment with your thoughts.

The “Jesus Lunch” Controversy

Middleton, Wisconsin has become the latest battleground for schools and religious freedom in the United States.  The controversy has erupted after a group of school mothers started hosting a free lunch in a nearby park that included a message about Jesus.  Many of the schoolchildren, who are allowed to leave school property to eat, were making their way to the park for the free meal and the message.

Prayer Alert: Japan Hit By 7.3 Magnitude Earthquake

Japan has been hit by a second major earthquake in two days.  On Thursday, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit the island country destroying homes and buildings and killing 9 people.  What was thought to be the major quake in Japan, turned in to just a large tremor as another bigger earthquake struck yesterday.  This one a magnitude 7.3.

We want to keep Japan in our prayers as they continue to deal with the devastation and damage and loss of life of this major earthquake in the days ahead.  It is being reported that at least 40 people have been killed and a thousand others have reportedly been injured–these are still very early reports as these situations go.

Photos and stories are starting to emerge of some of the damage done in the region, including an amazing rescue of an 8 month old baby that had been trapped in a house that had fell down.

Pray for the people of Japan and those rescue workers and first responders that are trying to help as much as possible.  Let’s also pray that aid–food, water, and shelter, can be established quickly for those affected in these regions.

First Home for Sex Trafficked Boys To Open in U.S.

A Christian couple is answering a call to open the first home for sex-trafficked boys in the United States.  We hear of these homes opening from time to time, but they have all generally been directed at females.  It is estimated that 50% of all sex-trafficked children are males–something that kind of stays in the shadows when it comes to talking about these terrible crimes against children.

The article published at Christian goes on to mention many of the trials and frustrations that this ministry has encountered, including the devastating beliefs that these children are the problem and that crime rates will go up where this home is planted.  How terrible for these children to think that others will not be there them!

Anchor House is set to open in the Fall of 2016 and will house between 4 and 12 sex-trafficked boys, age 12-18.  The couple who have helped to move forward with this calling, know that God is directing their initiatives.  Their brand new facility can already boast of being debt free the day it opens.  Anchor House is currently in the process of a fund drive to raise $400,000 additional dollars to help offset the cost of running the facility in the future.

Let us keep the Anchor House, the Smith family, and the boys that will housed there in our prayers in the days ahead.  God is definitely in the midst of this ministry and His hand in this can be seen all over the place.  Read the article to see what God is doing through this family and ministry.  Very cool stuff.
